Arclight started life as Arc, the Advanced Research Computing Newsletter. The advanced research computing derived from the Forty report remit to investigate the need and recommend provision for advanced research computing in the UK. It dealt with the facilities for advanced research computing at the Atlas Centre. A competition resulted in the name Arclight being chosen from the 32 entries. The Newsletter ran from December 1986 to December 1988.
As with the other CCD Newsletters, only information of immediate interest has been included.
