Loan pool

Loan Pool equipment arrived soon after the Transputer Initiative started. Allocations to users started in May 1987 and the early successful applicants received their allotted equipment by the middle of June. By July, 23 loans had been made. By October, the original set of equipment had all been loaned to 55 different applicants.

The pool of hardware and software available for use by members of the UK academic community was significantly upgraded in April 1990 following a £250k allocation by the Engineering Board.

Loans were made initially for a period of four months with an extension of up to eight months thereafter (one year total) being possible.
