Preliminary work on the 2904 version was started but the urgent requirement was to redevelop the Grants System. A positive decision whether to convert all or part of the 1906A system or to start again from scratch had still not been made by June 1979 when the Grants system went live. The favoured solution was a complete re-specification of the Awards system to enable full exploitation of the facilities offered by TOTAL and TPS.
Responsibility for the 2904 and the Grants and Awards Systems was transferred to SRC's Swindon Office before a decision was made.
