1906A with 256K 24-bit words of store (650ns) including extended precision Floating Point Unit, paging, 1 high-speed channel, 5 extra slow channels
Peripherals
2 × 4-deck cluster 80Kcs/9 track magnetic tape phase-encoded recording at 1600 bits per inch with a transfer rate of 160K characters per second
2 × 2-deck cluster 60Kcs/7 track magnetic tape NRZ recording at 200, 556 or 800 bits per inch with transfer rates 15K, 42K or 60K characters per second respectively
1 × 420M ch disc file with control
9-spindle EDS-30 exchangeable magnetic disc file, each disc cartridge holding 30.8M characters with an instantaneous transfer rate of 416 Kilocharacters per second for each drive
2 × 2M ch magnetic drum and controller with a transfer rate of 1.4M characters per second
2 × 1,600 cpm card readers (with binary image)
2 × 1,000 ch/sec paper tape readers
1 × 110 ch/sec paper tape punch
1 × 100 card/min card punch
2 × 1,350 line/min printers
Communications
Communications equipment: ICL 7903, comprising a communications processor, with ancillary equipment capable of controlling up to about 32 keyboard and 10 card reader/line printer terminals.

The ICL 1906A computer was installed in July/ August 1971.

In May 1973, a 5-spindle EDS-60 exchangeable disc file was added, each cartridge holding approximately 60M characters, with an instantaneous transfer rate of 416 Kilocharacters per second for each drive.
