In 1902, Segundo de Chomon from Barcelona was hand cranking translation title cards, quite slowly in order to get high contrast.

This is such a boring job that he had not noticed a fly landing on the title card. As he just had to make many frames the same, he did not need to bother about whether his hand-cranking was particularly regular.
