In 1891, Thomas Edison and William Dickson invented a motion picture camera and projector.

By 1894, the Lumière Brothers had invented their own device combining camera with printer and hand-cranked projector and called it the Cinématographe.

An early film, La Sortie de Usines Lumière, showed workers leaving the gates of their factory. Our variant on the film is shown below. The brothers came from Lyon in France so we have substituted lions for workers;-)
