Mike Daniels from III looks on. Eric Thomas and John Rushby also look on.

The FR80 was finally accepted in May 1975. The installation of the FR80 on site took longer than expected. With measuring equipment being resident in the Rutherford Laboratory and inaccessible outside normal working hours, the number of trial set-up runs per day was very few. The image size on the 35mm camera had changed significantly during transit. Also, the characteristics of the new film processor had to be ascertained before any intensity tests could be done. The light output of the new Litton tube was sufficiently greater than that of the old one for good quality hardcopy to be achieved at a single hit. Also, reasonable colour output, even at the red end of the spectrum, had been achieved with one hit.

The tests were started on 18 April but the frame abutment was unsatisfactory and more adjustments were required. The tests were restarted on Monday 28 April, this time running through without any stoppages. The magnetic tape drives required more attention, as did the 5010 film processor. T he machine was finally accepted on 19 May - 2 months after arrival.

III provided some liquid refreshment to toast the event.
