Web Futures for your business

Michael Wilson from the UK and Ireland Office of W3C will be speaking at IEE Web Futures for you business event on 12th May 2003 in London on Tim Berners-Lee's vision of the "roadmap" for the Web, covering Web services and the Semantic Web.

XSL Formatting Objects event

XML UK are arranging a day event on the topic of XSL FO to be held at the CCLRC Rutherford Appleton Laboratory on the 16th May 2003 which the W3C UK and Ireland Office is sponsoring.

OnLine Help Conference Europe 2003

Michael Wilson from the UK and Ireland Office of W3C will be speaking on at OnLine Help Conference Europe 2003 on 2nd June 2003 in London on Tim Berners-Lee's vision of the "roadmap" for the Web, covering 1. UI and accessibility 2. Web services 3. Semantic Web.

W3C Semantic Web Tour 2003

W3C will be organising a Tour of one day events on the Semantic Web around European cities during June 2003. The UK and Ireland regional event is planned for June 12th in London. Speakers will include W3C staff as well as UK and Ireland industrial organisations who can present the benefits of Semantic Web technology. The event will be free.

China International Forum on WWW's Development Announced

The China International Forum on WWW's Development 2003 will be held in Beijing, China on 16-17 April. W3C Team members Judy Brewer, Martin Dürst, Ivan Herman, Philipp Hoschka and Matt May present keynotes and tutorials. Attendees will participate in panels on accessibility, SVG, mobile Web, the Semantic Web, VoiceXML and internationalization. Registration is open. The event is co-organized by the China Computer Federation and the W3C Office in Hong Kong.

Voice Browser Patent Advisory Group Created

18 February 2003: W3C launched a Patent Advisory Group to advise the W3C on patents disclosures relating to the Voice Browser Activity. The PAG is open to representatives of W3C Member organizations currently participating in the Voice Browser Working Group. The PAG will operate under the terms of its charter and conduct its meetings via weekly teleconferences. The first meeting is 14 March. SVG Printing Requirements Published

19 February 2003: The SVG Working Group has released the first public Working Draft of SVG Printing Requirements. The draft describes usage scenarios, feature sets, design principles and requirements for the optimal use of Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) on SVG-enabled printers. Comments are welcome. IsaViz 1.2 Released

13 February 2003: W3C's Semantic Web Advanced Development initiative announces a new release of IsaViz, a visual environment for browsing and authoring RDF models represented as graphs. Version 1.2 supports the RDF Core Working Group's Last Call Working Drafts. New features include enhanced graphics, improved internationalization and Notation 3 support. Learn about IsaViz.

Judy Brewer Wins Susan G. Hadden Award

21 February 2003: Judy Brewer received the Susan G. Hadden Pioneer Award "for pioneering efforts in telecommunications and consumer access" from the Alliance for Public Technology (APT) in Washington, DC, USA. The award recognizes those who continue Hadden's legacy of ensuring equitable access to technology as a democratizing principle. Read about the W3C Web Accessibility Initiative.
