The Atlas Table Tennis team was formed soon after the Laboratory moved into the building, initially playing in the Staff Common Room. Having marked the new floor, they were forced to put down thick rubber mats that saved the floor, but ruined the table tennis. They tried various alternative places around the RAL site, eventually moving to the Colloquium.
Players included Mike Baylis, Alex Bell, Tim Gover, Bob Hopgood, Peter Kent, Don Russell, Eric Thomas and Rob Witty. Their greatest achievement was winning the Didcot and District Table Tennis Cup in 1966.
