The SCORS package produced by Stromberg-Carlson was mainly an interface to the basic instruction codes of the SC4020. In consequence many systems/libraries were developed that just sat on top of SCORS. Some examples are:

  • DTMB: The David Taylor Model Basin enhanced the Bell Labs version of SCORS for their own use. The first version interfaced to the IBM 704 and the second to Fortran on the IBM 7090
  • Plot Pac
  • NOSPLOT: Sandia Labs, took SCORS output tapes for the SC4020 and allowed previews of frames on Tektronix storage tubes. The Atlas Computer Laboratory had a similar preview system on a PDP15
  • MOVIE1: Sandia Labs ran on a CDC 6600 generating output for the SC4020 used by the Sandia visual documentation system. MOVIE1 documents the motion of one object relative to another.
  • CONTUR: NASA:
  • Hershey Fonts: a set of fonts defined by A V Hershey at the U. S. Naval Weapons Laboratory that were widely used on the SC4020
  • M2C: not really a Library but this Los Alamos system generated animations from data that was sparse in some time intervals and changing significantly in others
