SCFOR was developed by Paul Nelson and was the main system used at the Atlas Computer Laboratory for Fortran Users.

A typical command is:

      CALL LINE (300, 500, 700, 500)

A film was made called Focus that described the facilities available in SCFOR.

It illustrated simulated camera and editing effects such as zooms, wipes, straight cuts and a type of fade. Zooms were achieved by changing the scale of the subject in successive frames, while wipes and straight cuts were the results of translations. The fade provided removed lines from the current picture while adding lines in the new picture randomly distributed over a sequence of frames.

The library of routines associated with SCFOR included one for drawing contour lines over an area. One scene in Focus had the earth rotating at one degree per frame, (each frame had about 8000 lines representing the coastlines of the world). This zoomed in to the British Isles and finally arrived at the Atlas Computer Laboratory.

The film had a magnetic stripe sound-track produced by Peter Hadingham of Swift Film Productions.

Focus was shown at the 1970 British Industrial Film Festival.
