This document has grown with the development of the SMOG and SPROGS graphics systems. Its major aim is to show, by example, how to tackle specific problems using either of these systems on the 1906A.
The development work for both packages is now complete and they are reasonably stable in content. Work is currently in progress to provide routines of a specific nature which utilise the two packages - see section 4 for more details.
In this primer, external references are enclosed in paretheses with the publication reference number enclosed in square brackets, an optional comment before, and the section number after the brackets. For example, ([5] 5.11) refers to publication reference 5, section 5.11.
Where it is not clear whether an O (oh!) or a 0 (zero) is required, the zero is written 0. Normally the zero is a little thinner than the O.
Finally I would like to thank all of my colleagues who have helped in the production of the primer. This includes the author's of SMOG and SPROGS, the many proof readers and of course the typists without whom this would still be a pile of illegible notes.
