Some staff are remembered with on-site memorials.
Paul Nelson was originally in the Harwell Computing Group and was responsible for setting up the remote connection to Aldermaston and Risley. He joined the Atlas Computer Laboratory when it was formed and was instrumental in acquiring both the SC4020 and FR80 microfilm recorders. He was particularly interested in film generation producing the first computer generated film on the SC4020. He helped many users with their own activities. He organised the collaboration with Swift Films that enabled the Laboratory to generate films in colour and with soundtracks quite early on in the history of computer animation.
