1. The intensity range used in INTNST will now be 1-256, giving FR80 intensity values 0-255. INTNST (0.0) will prevent any further plotting.
2. PLIMIT will be retained for specialist use, but no similar facility (mappjng onto any area of screen) would be provided for the general user. It was noted that:
3. CMAPER not only issues a rotate order, but also inverts the X, Y limits. Thus the actual area specified remains the same and so the aspect ratio changes. It was decided to retain this form of rotation and not separate the rotate function from the area definition.
However, it may be easier to define CMAPER with reference to a rotate command. It was left to PAD to decide whether such A routine would be helpful. Its form would be:
SUBROUTINE CONIC (N)
where N = 0/1 for cine/comic. Thus:
COMIC(1) APER
is not the same as:
CMAPER
since the former allows the mapped area to extend beyond the physical camera aperture.
4. Since the Hewlett Packard plotter has mechanical control of its plotting area, and since the area cannot extend right to the limits of the edge stops, there is no point in distinguishing between aperture, abut and cine. Instead, guidelines will be given in the manual for the method of setting any desired aspect ratio.
Please note the following changes to SMOG documentation issued on 25 March.
There will be no distinction made between aperture, abut and cine on the Hewlett-Packard since the user can adjust the aspect ratio by hand on the device itself.
The routines HPLOT and HTYPE have been redefined as follows:
SUBROUTINE HPLOT(IR)
This outputs the character whose code is IR. This will not concatenate to any previous text.
SUBROUTINE HTYPE(IR)
This outputs the character whose code is IR. This will concatenate to any previous text provided no intervening routine has changed the plotting characteristics.
Two new routines have been provided to output characters defined as one-character strings and these are equivalent to HPLOT, HTYPE respectively:
SUBBROUTINE HPLOTS (STR) SUBROUTINE HTYPES(STR)
The range of argument values for routine INTNST will be l to 256 instead of 0 to 255.
Intensity 0 will prevent any subsequent lines or characters being produced.
The routine to print FR80 orders should read:
TOPRIN
