Peter Groves of Aston University had a long term interest in the use of film in teaching. As early as September 1964 he organised a Conference on Film in Higher Education and Research held at the College of Advanced Technology in Birmingham/
He defined the First Order Reactions film to provide assistance in the teaching of simple rate processes but also to make an estimate of the cost of computer generation. The work was written up in the International Journal of Mathematical Education in Science and Technology Volume 5, 1974.
Peter later edited a series of about 25 chemistry cassettes for the Chemistry Society.
After his retirement, he concentrated on his publishing business, Meridian Books. Peter died in 2011.
