By July, the original set of staff were all accommodated in the building. The staff used to meet for morning tea and afternoon coffee in the room at the back end of the Office Block that also was used as a Lecture Room and housed the Atlas Table Tennis team in the evenings!
Jack Howlett's Office was the best office in the place with some nice wooden panels. It also had one of the many prints that Jack had purchased and placed around the building.
This is a fairly typical office for a senior staff member (probably Bob Churchhouse's). Note the Marchant electric calculator which were still around to check results!
Between the Office Block and the Machine Room was the Think Room. Visitors could leave their debug runs at the input counter and spend some time here checking what they had done or contemplating the results of an earlier run.
By the end of the year, the buildings and landscaping were looking rather more mature. Atlas used the Rutherford Laboratory restaurant for lunch and there was a steady trail of people backwards and forwards.
