This report has been compiled and printed by the Ministry of Supply. I would like to express my gratitude to Brig. G. H. Hinds, O.B.E. who made the arrangements. I would also like to thank Mr. W. A. Taylor and Mr. F. Morris who attended the conference for the purpose of taking notes and who have undertaken the considerable labour of producing the report. I am grateful also to the speakers at the conference who kindly produced written versions of their contributions.

In order to make the report more useful, a bibliography of papers and books on the design of digital machines has been added. This bibliography includes all the papers which were referred to during the conference and a good many other papers as well.
