Hans Anchor Buchholdt used the Chilton Atlas in the period 1970-1972 simulating the behaviour of pretensioned cable structures.
In 1967 he was awarded his PhD entitled Cable Nets with Finite Displacements at the University of London and then became a lecturer at the Polytechnic of Central London
Some of the papers published in the period 1968 to 1974 are:
He has two widely sold books:
About the Author for the 2nd Edition (1998) of the second book states:
Hans Anton Buchholdt is from Norway and a Professor Emeritus at the University of Westminster (formerly the Polytechnic of Central London) where he was appointed a principal lecturer in the Department of Civil Engineering in 1967 and a Professor in 1976. During his time there, he studied and developed methods for generating numerical models of correlated wind and earthquake histories, and methods for calculating the non-linear static and dynamic response of pretensioned cable roofs and guyed masts in the time domain. Professor Buchholdt has published a number of papers on the analysis, testing and construction of cable roofs and guyed masts, acted as a consultant to industry, and is the author of the book: Structural Dynamics for Engineers (Thomas Telford 1997). He has also been engaged in cooperative research projects with institutions abroad, notably the University of Florence and the Norwegian Building Research Institute in Oslo. Professor Buchholdt is currently lecturing on structural dynamics to industrially based MSc engineering students at the University of Westminster.
